The world as we know it is in a state of transition. This is especially palpable in the current global shift from socioeconomic models based on exploitation and extraction to those founded on the basis of sustainable and inclusive growth and development.
This shift reflects a recent and rapid evolution in thinking by policymakers and regulators, industry, and society at large.
Ever increasing interconnectedness among stakeholder groups across value chains the world over mean that the implication of this shift in thinking manifests in the need for adaptation to the ‘new normal’.
From SMMEs and SGBs to MNCs, international institutional investors, governments and communities – no one is immune to the pace and scale of disruption that is currently underway.
The team at MIA recognise that this presents significant challenges for organisations attempting to make sense of the madness for the purposes of developing their own transition roadmap. That’s why we’re here to help. MIA works with you to get you to grips with both the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ of your transition.
At MIA, we make it our business to keep abreast of what is going on in the world of sustainable development and we work with you to distil this information into appropriately nuanced, context specific content that is relevant to your organisation and can be feasibly incorporated into your decision-making processes. The aim is to have material information at hand in an easily digestible format, to empower you to clarify your strategic vision and to make better decisions.
To this end, we’re here to assist with briefing sessions tailored to your organisation, walking your team through global, regional and local trends in sustainable development, and contextualising this information for your organisation.
This process includes (as appropriate) stakeholder mapping and engagement (including stewardship support in the case of investor partners), data collection and analysis and workshopping potential options with your team and any relevant external experts, in order to come up with a strategy that meets the requirements of your key stakeholders – including regulatory requirements – and that is appropriately ambitious without becoming impractical. We work with you to ensure that you leverage existing resources – such as your BEE strategies and ED programmes – to deliver a sustainable and inclusive transition.
Once we have agreed on the plan, the MIA team can also be available to support your organisation in implementation.

I am passionate about sustainable development in general and about developing pragmatic and impactful strategies for Africa’s just transition to a low carbon economy in response to the climate emergency.
As a Development Economist, I have dedicated my career to the provision of strategic advisory services in the development space. I have worked with local and international clients across the public and private sector on the design and implementation of strategies aimed at achieving large-scale developmental impact.
In recent years, my focus has been on identifying and addressing the needs of African investors with respect to integrating ESG into investment processes in an effort to foster the maximisation of long-term sustainable financial returns across the continent. I have specialised in the initiation and management of key stakeholder relationships and partnerships across the region, including those with investors as well as with policymakers and regulators, academic institutions and mission driven organisations in order to build capacity across these groups with respect to ESG and responsible investment.
I currently sit on a number of committees and working groups where I provide insight on international trends and developments with respect to responsible investment and represent the needs of African investors in this regard.
I look forward to partnering with you on the identification, coordination and implementation of impactful projects across Africa and beyond.

I work as an impact consultant, supporting private and public sector clients with strategic advice, programme design and implementation for their socio-economic and economic development programmes.
My career has focused on developing and delivering high impact initiatives to support the development of marginalised communities and the growth of small businesses.
I have been a key resource in high profile programmes in South Africa; I formed part of the founding team of the Youth Employment Service, the signature youth development programme of the South African government and private business sector where I helped develop and lead the youth hosting programme to support NGO’s and small business as well as the enterprise development programme to support township economies.
I have also developed green economy and small business programmes funded by the Development Bank of Southern Africa and currently acting CEO of the Urban Agriculture Initiative and TIMU.
I look forward to partnering with you on projects focused on delivering real-world impact through inclusive socioeconomic development programmes.
